WEEK 7 Sept 20, 2012
I have been having marvelous experiences with The Book of Mormon. I know
that it is a vessel for us to acquire personal revelation. In order to
understand personal revelation better, I would direct you to the beginning of
the 138th section of the Doctrine and Covenants, Joseph Smith History, and the
story of Nephi's vision and desire to see what his father saw. Study these
scriptures and take note of what these men did to acquire revelation. I testify
that if we follow these same guidelines, we can receive revelation. Remember
that the central idea of receiving revelation is that we are aligning our will
with the Lords. I bear testimony that The Book of Mormon is a powerful tool for
acquiring revelation, and I believe you'll see that it and other scripture fall
very specifically into one of the steps of receiving revelation. I testify that
if you read with a specific intent and purpose, and if you read slowly and
carefully, using all of the resources at your expense to understand ever word
before you, you will have miracles happen. Read the words of Nephi and imagine a
man, large in stature, brought to tears seeing his Savior's face. Imagine the
brother of Jared, asking the Lord to show Himself unto him. Imagine their hands
etching these words into the plates, and seek to understand WHY they are there.
I promise as you do this you'll see how orderly and perfect Heavenly Father is
at giving unto the children of men the fulness of His gospel, and how He has
provided ways for us to know His truths. I testify of the Restoration, and of
the power of the Atonement, and of the love that Heavenly Father has for us. In
the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
